A perennial toast to automotive design and performance, the Porsche 911 rarely ceases to impress and the 2011 Porsche Turbo S is no exception. Whats so special this time around? Well for starters, pay close attention to that squiggly consonant hanging off the end of the moniker – ‘S’. This is the first incarnation of an ‘S’ of any kind in the 997 series, and with it comes the tradition S-models have always delivered: more grunt, more go.
The 997 Turbo S takes the twin-turbo boxer-six from the standard 911 Turbo, and increases power to a whopping 530HP and 516ft/lbs of torque. To get that power to the ground, an AWD system is employed and mated to a seven-speed PDK dual clutch transmission. As for aesthetics, take a look at the quartet of 19″ wheels complete with über-cool center locking nuts.
So, what’s all this equate to? How about 0-62 in 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 196MPH. Wunderbar!
